Open Panel Timber Frame
Ecoframes are one of the few manufacturers using locally sourced ‘homegrown’ timber for our timber frames. We supply entire timber frames using materials sourced and manufactured in the UK.
Timber frame construction is a method of building which relies on a timber frame as a basic means of structural support.
Our open panel timber frames are available with stud sizes of 95 x 45mm, 145 x 45mm, 195 x 45mm and 225 x 45mm. When thicknesses greater than 225mm are required, we recommend our other timber frame solutions, asymmetric stud, space stud or low energy timber frame.
Framed buildings are often referred to as ‘lightweight construction’, but don’t be misled – like the skeleton in your body, it’s a precision engineered structure that is remarkably strong and durable.
During ongoing construction, open panel timber frame is filled with high performance insulation and covered internally by plasterboard. Moisture barriers (also known as vapour control layers –VCL’s) are incorporated and the outer leaf of the wall completes the structure. The frame is surrounded by a weather screen outer leaf – typically stone, brick, render or timber to suit the local vernacular and planning requirements.
